Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center opened its doors July 25, 2011 and we have grown ever since delivering on our wildly important goal of Where Your Pets Matter. A long-time dream and vision by owner Dr. Margot Vahrenwald, Park Hill Vet is a family-owned and operated and is Fear Free™ and accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. We strive to be your friendly neighborhood vets, offering state of the art veterinary medical care with heartfelt support of the human-animal bond.

DR. MARGOT K. VAHRENWALD

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Margot's Bio

Having always loved animals, Dr. Margot detoured into a starting career in public relations/journalism before returning to school to study veterinary medicine. However, that communications background has always helped in her veterinary work in educating owners on the best care for their pets. After graduating from the veterinary school at Colorado State University in 2000, she completed a 13-month small animal internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. Dr. Margot returned to Colorado in 2004. A lifetime goal of opening her own veterinary practice was met when Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center opened in July 2011. Dr. Margot’s medical interests include Wellness/Preventive Medicine, Dentistry, Nutrition, Marketing and Client Education. The practice has grown and flourished since opening with the support of our great neighborhood and community. Dr. Margot is married to Chris, our hospital manager. They have two active and lovely daughters, Savannah and Caitlin; two cats and three dogs. When there is any spare time, you might find Dr. Margot with her nose in a book, behind the camera or digitally scrapbooking.

Running a veterinary practice has been a new and challenging position for Chris since he joined the practice in October 2011. A wide and varied career in business and credit/debt collections provided a strong foundation for financial management of a rapidly growing hospital.

Dr Joleen Soares

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Soares's Bio

Since joining Park Hill Vet in August 2024, Dr. Soares has shown herself to be a dedicated veterinarian with a heart for both pets and their people. She is originally from Jamaica and completed her undergraduate studies at Middlebury College in Vermont. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. With a warm smile, she welcomes new and current clients, eager to become a positive addition to every companion pet’s life.

When not in the clinic, she’s soaking up the great outdoors, watching live sports or dancing to the rhythm of live music, often surrounded by her cherished friends. At home, she’s embraced by the love of Ratchet, her rescue pet and faithful companion.

Dr. Brian Stanley

Dr. Brian's Bio

Dr. Stanley grew up in Austin, TX and attended Baylor University for his undergraduate education where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a premedical focus. After changing his mind about attending medical school, he set his sights on veterinary medicine and attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with his DVM in 2022. His veterinary interests include preventative medicine, shelter medicine, and taking a collaborative approach with clients. Away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their dogs and cats, hiking, camping, hanging out at breweries, and attending concerts.

Alice

Alice's Bio
From Texas to Hawaii to Colorado, Alice has lived across the country and has used her various terrains to help a wide range of animals in need. She holds an immense passion for educating clients on high quality home pet care, as well as being the healing hand in Veterinary care. Alice is currently in school to further her career in the Veterinary Industry, with a goal of gaining her a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree – specializing in wildlife and exotic animals! At home, she currently cares for her cat, dog and hamster, but we’re sure she will gain a new and more exotic pet soon to help fuel her passions!

Aisha's Bio

Aisha grew up in Laramie, Wyoming with a love for animals since she was young. She went to the University of Wyoming and studied Microbiology. After graduation, Aisha moved to Durango, CO in where she worked at the humane society for three years. She moved to Denver in 2018 to be closer to her family and pursue her love of working with animals. Aisha is owned by a yellow lab Chloe and two cats, Aspen and Salem. In her free time, she likes hiking, spending time with her friends, and hanging out with her animals.

Caitlyn H.

Caitlyn's Bio
Caitlyn grew up in the Pacific Northwest and just moved to Denver June of 2020. She and her boyfriend are thrilled with their move. She has been working in the veterinary field as a veterinary assistant for three years. They are owned by two German Shorthair Pointers and a Blue Heeler. The whole family loves the outdoors and all the new places to explore in Colorado.

Daniel B.

Daniel's Bio
Daniel worked in human medicine as a Medical Assistant for 6 years, while also studying for Marine Biology. Eventually, Daniel took a break to travel and help with marine conservation efforts in Southern California and Florida. During this travel, Daniel took the opportunity to even do diving in The Great Barrier Reef as a licensed scuba diver. He also assisted for in sea turtle rescue and conservation from Galveston, Texas before moving to Colorado in 2018. Daniel hopes to use his skills learned as an Exam Room Assistant here at PHVMC to one day help advance him in his marine care career.

Kate's Bio
Born in New York City, Kate grew up in New Jersey before moving to Boston to attend Tufts University, where she majored in Biology with a focus in Animal Behavior. During her time in school, Kate had the opportunity to intern at the Duke Lemur Center, completing an independent research project on ringtailed lemur communication. After graduating, Kate packed up her stuff and drove out to Colorado. During her free time, Kate can be found exploring Denver, baking, and hanging out with her kitten, Clover.

Emily grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She moved to Colorado for the mountains and the snow. “My love for animals is what made me choose this profession. I hope to attend veterinary school at some point!,” says Emily. A fun fact about Emily is she is an amazing cat whisperer!

Danielle's Bio

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Danielle pursued a Bachelor of Animal Science Degree and an Associate’s in Business Administration through Colorado State University. Her ultimate passion is shelter medicine. She has volunteered as a veterinary assistant/animal care specialist for Animal House Dog Rescue for the past 5 years. She also had the opportunity to volunteer at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital with a focus in the Small Ruminant Comparative Orthopedic Lab for 3 years. When not on a mission to change animals’ lives, Danielle’s hobbies are being a mom and canine dog training. She hopes to attend veterinary school in the future. Danielle is a Fear Free Certified professional.

A recent Denver resident, Larissa joined the PHVMC family as an Exam Room Assistant after an educational background in pet medicine. She has swiftly gained her place amongst our Outpatient team with her clear passion for all patients, and willingness to be a helping hand wherever she is needed. After seeing all the cats and dogs at work, Larissa goes home to her sweet bunny, Romeo. In the future, Larissa hopes to complete educational courses that lead her to working in the Equine industry!

Lucille was born and raised in Colorado. She has had a love for animals since she could walk. Lucille is currently attending school to become a CVT. Lucille is set to graduate in early 2021 with an associate degree of applied science in Animal Technology. Lucille is owned by her Doberman, Delta and her toddler, Noah.

I was born and raised in Denver, CO. I have always had a passion for caring for animals, and particularly have a heart for horses. I grew up riding and training horses under the instruction of a true Sioux Indian who was a family friend. As such I learned the “fear-free” technique at a very early age and am very empathetic with animals. I went to high school in Danbury, CT, and moved back to CO after graduation to pursue my dream of animal medicine. I tried out several colleges before my journey led me to Bel-Rea, where I am currently a full-time student and almost done! When not at work and school I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and our two dogs and three goats!

I am a Park Hill Native. Growing up in a household that loved animals, I was the one always trying to bring home ALL the strays. Eventually, I went on to study at Bel-Rea, but motherhood and being a wife have been my most important recent roles. The love of animals continues and I am happy to be able to be at a point in life where I can finally work with them and their humans. I depend on the love and support of my husband and three children along with four special fur babies.

Angelina's Bio
Angelina knew since she was a little girl that she wanted to work with pets. From “vaccinating” to performing “surgeries” on her stuffed animals, she was bound to find herself in this industry! After high school, she initially pursued careers in both Fashion and Home Health, until deciding to revert to her childhood passion in pet care. Between receiving her Certification for Veterinary Assistant, and gaining experience as an Exam Room Assistant here at PHVMC, Angelina is a knowledgeable care taker for all of our patients! When she is not working, Angelina enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 pomeranians – Kallum, Oliver & Wednesday.

Alexandra

Born and raised in Denver, Alex graduated with her Bachelors in Biology and Minor in Chemistry at MSU Denver. She has loved animals since before she could even walk! Before her position at Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center, Alex got to work with all the animals at the Denver Zoo for almost 3 years (2017-2020) as a Zoo Keeper Apprentice and then a Primate Keeper! Alex and her boyfriend have a full and interesting house between their 3 Shiba Inu’s and Chihuahua. We love learning about exotic animals from Alex’s wide range of knowledge and experience!

Anna Claire

Anna Claire was born and raised in a little town in Arkansas. She moved to Denver the summer of 2020, and found what she refers to as “the most fitting job ever for me!” She has always loved animals, ever since she could remember. She especially has a soft place in her heart for cats, but she says that her love for dogs have grown so much since starting at Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center. She plans on adopting some fur babies soon, but until then, Anna Claire loves to go exploring in her spare time. She loves trying exciting new things when not working, such as – roller skating, hiking, reading, hula hooping, live music or anything fun she can find! Anna Claire always brings a bright smile to work, even after some clumsy accidents from her various out of work activities!

Born in Rifle, CO and raised in Montana, Becky relocated back to Colorado in 2004 where she began her long standing career in Culinary Services and explored an array of positions in the industry. Becky is a single mom of an awesome human-boy, Kaleb and a fur-boy, Lucky. She is brand new to the Veterinary industry and has stated that she is completely stoked to be learning new things every day in her new role as a Client Care Specialist here at Park Hill Veterinary Medical Center.

Chantel is a Native to Colorado, balancing two jobs in the Veterinary industry, a family of 4 at home, and 16 (mostly exotic) pets! Chantel stated, “I have a fierce sensation and passion in my heart to take care of animals as my life’s goal. I love to foster, pet sit and surround myself with animals on a daily basis. I enjoy our beautiful state and all she has to offer, but camping is my favorite thing to do during summer months, with the family and my dog, Lotus. I aspire to own an Exotic Rescue one day for all reptiles that need a safe haven to live out their life. I have a soft spot for alligators, crocs and dwarf caimans. Personally owning a dwarf caiman has been the highlight of my life, stemming from an unforgettable passion started by Steve Irwin!”

Jen's Bio

Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Jen always knew she wanted to work with animals. She worked for a local veterinary practice for 5 years before moving stateside to Colorado in 2000. Jen worked at the Denver Dumb Friends League for 13 years before joining the Park Hill Vet family. She lives with husband and two special needs cats, Panda and Mango. In her spare time, you can find Jen hiking, white water rafting, snowshoeing and exploring the Colorado Mountains. Jen is a Fear Free Certified professional.

JENNY

Jenny's Bio

Jenny is from the northwest corner of Illinois, but her heart is in Wisconsin. Jenny has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. She enjoys interacting with clients and their furry babies and providing the absolute best care for every patient that comes along. In her free time, Jenny likes to watch the latest movies, cook new and exciting meals in the kitchen, and living in the moment.

Katherine's Bio
Katherine was born and raised in Denver and is currently finishing her degree in Sport Management at MSU Denver. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, exploring the outdoors, and going on adventures with her boyfriend, Jeremy and their three dogs – Goose, Moo-Moo, and Gizmo. She’s loved critters from day one and adores meeting all the patients at PHVMC!

Staci F.

Staci's Bio
Staci is originally from Martinsburg WV. At a very young age she realized she had two passions in life, ballet and animals. Staci was able to follow her dreams to pursue a career as a professional ballerina.Upon graduating from Kirov Academy of Ballet, Staci was hired by Colorado Ballet. Within a year she was promoted to Corps de Ballet and then in 2003 she was made a Soloist. Staci had the opportunity to perform many classical and contemporary productions. After 8 seasons with Colorado Ballet, Staci decided it was time to retire. It was then that she was able to pursue her other passion, caring for animals. Staci has had the opportunity to work in different animal hospitals as front desk, vet assistant and ultimately hospital administrator. Though Staci loves working with animals, she has stayed true to her roots and teaches young ballerinas in a local ballet studio. She is the Assistant Ballet Director as well as Assistant Director of their competition team. Staci joined the PHVMC team in September 2020 and absolutely loves working as a CCS member. When Staci is not working, she enjoys time with her wonderful husband and playing with her two rambunctious beagles, Axel and Sweet Dee.

HENDRIX

Former Resident Clinical Cat

Hendrix's Bio
Hendrix was our resident clinic cat from December 2015 until his passing due to cancer in June 2020 after being relinquished to Park Hill Vet. His elegant, inquisitive personality is dearly missed. He will always be known for perching in high places to survey his kingdom, like clockwork demands for snacks and meals, and for entertaining our clients and patients.
